What is a Notary & What do they do?
A notary public is a state-commissioned official who serves as an impartial witness to important documents and transactions. Their primary role is to authenticate signatures, verify identities, and ensure the individuals signing documents are doing so willingly and without coercion. Notaries help prevent fraud and uphold the integrity of legal agreements. Common tasks include notarizing affidavits, contracts, real estate documents, powers of attorney, and other official paperwork.
Can a Notary Provide Legal Advice?
No, a notary public is not authorized to provide legal advice. Notaries are impartial officials tasked with verifying the authenticity of signatures and documents, but they are not licensed to offer guidance on legal matters. If you need legal advice, it’s best to consult a qualified attorney
